Take It From Me Series | Session 4 Recap
Do you have questions about what it takes to succeed in the design field? Want to hear first hand from professionals about their experience in the design field?
For the fourth session of our #TiFM series, we held a speed-dating styled event allowing students and emerging designers to sit and talk with professional designers. Attendees were able to ask professionals questions, hear about their career paths, discover their process, and learn from their mistakes and successes.

I was really happy to have the opportunity to participate. It’s often difficult to figure out the best way to begin a practice in design, with so many different entry points. Seeking out advice and hearing about others’ paths along their career is the best way to find your own way. Having AIGA facilitate the connections of designers within the community is a huge service that really brings to light one of the ways that we can give back while also growing our profession.

The Take it From Me Event is a great opportunity to give back to the community. I enjoy participating in this event every time. It’s a rare opportunity to offer advice to up and coming creatives or folks who are looking to change gears. The speed dating format keeps it interesting for those who are looking for advice because you can get varied insight from so many different perspectives in a short time. This should happen more often.

About #TiFM
Take it From Me gives students and emerging professionals the opportunity to interact with established professionals in the design field. This initiative will encourage engagement and discussion through a range of events—including workshops, panel discussions, roundtables, lectures, networking events, studio tours, online activities, etc.—that address different aspects of the design discipline.
Take it From Me provides newer designers the opportunity to ask questions, seek advice, and participate in career development focused activities, while giving established designers the opportunity to support the emerging design community.
