The AIGA Boston seeks to enhance the abilities of design educators and educational institutions in order to prepare future designers for excellence in design practice, design theory, and design writing at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The chapter focuses on education research and service—including curriculum and program development, design theory and history, methodology and research, the social roles of designers, tenure, teaching standards and, school accreditation.

Design Educator Forum

The Design Educator Series brings together a community of design educators to share stories, resources and experiences around various design topics.

If you have attended AIGA Design Educators Conferences, you know the value of connecting with other design educators who are deeply involved with teaching both undergraduates and graduate students. These gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to learn about faculty colleagues are doing in their classrooms and their curriculums.

Student Groups

AIGA student groups are active on more than 200 campuses across the United States to give college students the opportunity and connect with local designers, faculty, and fellow emerging designers. Each student group is mentored by a faculty adviser who helps guide students in their activities and careers.

Student Symposium

The biennial student symposium gathers students from schools across New England for a day of design thinking training, workshops, and presentations and lectures. It gives students a chance to meet and interact with students from other schools, programs, and disciplines, fostering new connections and collaborations.

Scholarships

Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships benefit minority and economically disadvantaged students who are studying art and design disciplines in colleges and universities in the United States. Our primary aims are to increase diversity in the creative professions, and to foster social and environmental responsibility in the artists, designers, and studios of tomorrow.

Scholarship recipients are selected not only for their talent and their need, but also for their demonstrated commitment to giving back to the larger community through their work. Each award is paid directly to the recipient’s school and applied toward tuition.
