How do you engage an audience in a multi-sensory experience? The Gardner Museum and AIGA Boston partner up to present a Third Thursday event featuring talks by designers going beyond the visual and a maker workshop focused on sound art and interactive experience. The night will be filled with fun activities, live music and drinks by the courtyard.

TALKS
Speakers:
Meejin Yoon, Höweler + Yoon Architecture LLP / MY Studio
Eric Gunther, Sosolimited
Sara Hendren, Abler
Facilitated by David Oliver, Cusp Development

We experience the world through the use of all our senses and more and more design is addressing us through as many senses as is practical. Brands are defined by the sight, sound, feeling, smell and taste of their products and environments. What new possibilities may we encounter as we explore new ways to connect with an audience? Three designers, working across disciplines, will present work that engages the senses. During the panel discussion we’ll learn how targeting multiple senses affects their work and how it might add to our own.

WORKSHOP
Instructor:
MJ Caselden, Caselden Studios

This workshop will guide participants through the process of creating their own interactive artwork. Using littleBits Electronics, a new library of electronic modules, we will transform sound to light, light to motion, and explore other sensory combinations.
